Why upstairs and rooms are not opened for visiting ?

We totally understand your concern. The primary reason is Maintenance. Even these days maintaining is a complex activity. With house facing road, it is challenging to shield from ever appearing dust. Nevertheless, we are open to your solution. Shoot us your idea on maintenance solutions, we are happy to learn and implement.
Who is the owner of Athangudi Palace ?

"Sri Letchmi Vilas" now globally recognized as Athangudi Palace is a house built by Shri. N. AR. Nachiappa Chettiar and Shrimathi Meyyammai Aachi. It is now managed by key family members.
Why is it not allowed for filming nowadays ?

We have put humungous effort to keep the place in the way as it is today. Prioritizing and overseeing the renovation work. Learning from past experiences, with commercial filming, helped us to understand that the technology with high power instruments is burning the paint and wood, increasing the maintenance efforts to unprecedented heights.
There are many establishments with the name "Athangudi Palace". Do you promote or affiliated to any companies ?

No, none. No partnership, no promotion to any Tiles, Art, Restaurant, or Any Firm whatsoever. This is a house, managed by key family members. Opened to public, to promote Chettinad Heritage and tourism. We do in-house Interior and Architectural services. Reach out at info@athangudipalace.com for more details.
Can we stay at Athangudi Palace ? do you have boarding and lodging ?

No, boarding and lodging arrangements require changing the primary design and altering the structure, we cannot do that without doing away with the original elements.
What is Athangudi Palace Timings ?

We're open from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. IST. A very few exceptions on Pongal, festivals, Temple Car festivals, Kumbh festival, family functions, weddings. We will update of any upcoming exceptions / holidays in "Plan your Visit" page.
